This is a re-post. I cleaned up the audio you you can actually hear what Glyn is saying. If done correctly this technique is fantastic. Seriously, I have a hard time believing that no one cleaned up the atrocious audio in the original. Your talking about audio engineers or to be audio engineers recording the one and only Glyn Johns and the audio in the original is beyond horrible.

However, there is one major issue that I have found with the technique while using it in one of my own sessions, and I'd like to share it with you. How come no one has talked about it? I'm not sure, but for me it really messed up the mix and I had to ditch the stereo set up entirely and go down to the single overhead microphone for a mono mix.
Those who have recently watched the Beatles' "Get Back" documentary may have noticed the very talented enginer and producer Glyn Johns looking like the coolest cat in Swinging London. Glyn worked with some of the greatest bands of that era: The Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Small Faces, and many more. However, many people probably don't know that he became a big star in Spain in 1967 after recording a cover of the Stones' song "Lady Jane", featuring Brian Jones on sitar. Situating a trio of microphones from Lauten Audio to capture the flawless drum stylings of Devin Fuller, Fletcher details everything you would need to know about understanding this technique of miking a full kit. Should home studio guys use it? I think that the Glyn Johns Method is a very tricky technique when you have a small room. For a large room it is much easier, as you only have to address the perspectives of the microphones. However in a small room, slight adjustments of the microphone can make a big difference in the sound of the drums and of your recordings. This episode talks about how to listen out for issues with the Glyn Johns recording technique, and how to fix those issues.
